Nourishing Nettle Tea: A Recipe for Stress Reduction

Desert Bloom Botanicals is serving up recipes for our favorite nourishing experiences and herbal infusions to release stress and calm the body and mind!

An infusion is simple - a long-steeped, super strong tea made of just herbs and water. Read on for a step-by-step tutorial. Making herbal infusions is easy and so beneficial for you. So, keep it simple. Start with:

  • a tea kettle or pot

  • filtered water

  • a large mason jar, or large mug

  • organic dried nettle

  • a mesh strainer or tea ball

If you benefit from being exact, then weigh out one ounce of dried nettle and place it in your tea leaf strainer. If you are comfortable with eyeing it out, take a very large spoonful of the ground nettle to begin.

Place the tea strainer in the mason jar and cover it with hot water. Allow some steam to escape, but not too much.

Let the tea brew steep for at least one hour, or even overnight. Nettle tea can always be heated up again after it has become cold. Once the infusion is steeped, strain it.

Drink up to one quart daily, either hot or cold. If you want to be a little fancy, you can even explore making a nettle infusion latte!

Herbal infusions are best for nutritive herbs, that are infusing the body with vitamins and minerals. Examples of these include oat straw, red raspberry leaf, violet lea, red clover and alfalfa.

What is your favorite herbal infusion to drink?
