CBD 101: How to Use CBD

How to Choose the Right CBD Product for You

Sometimes the way that certain CBD products are taken (edible, liquid, lotion, oil, etc.) may not work well for you, especially if you have an underlying condition. First, work with your health care provider to assess your health needs by addressing the following questions:

  • What type of dosing method are you most comfortable with? Are you more comfortable with drops or edible option?

  • Do you need large or small doses of cannabidoil?

  • Do you need to adjust your dose size? There are various dose sizes that you can try. Some people requires larger doses than others, and vice-versa.

  • Do you need a product that is purely CBD or a whole-plant formula (includes THC)?

There are various ways to consume CBD.

Everyone's body is different, responds to cannabinoids in varying ways, and therefore, should consume it differently. Just like when you are trying to figuring anything new out, it takes time to find the right dose, the right way to consume CBD, and ensure that it meets your desired lifestyle. So, here are some ways to help you find what works best for you!

Our Favorite Ways to Consume CBD

CBD Tinctures

CBD Tinctures are the most popular cannabidoil product on the market and are available in whole-plant and isolate forms. Tinctures are a liquid supplement that is taken orally and is quick-acting. A benefit is that doses can be taken exactly and changed at will. Tinctures are discreet, mobile, and easy to place in your pocket. This is perfect for people who want quick relief.

Under the Tongue: Fill the dropper, drop the CBD tincture under your tongue, and wait for 30 seconds before swallowing. The blood vessels in your mouth and under your tongue quickly absorb the compound.

Waiting Period: 15 minutes to an hour, depending on the dose, before you feel effects

Duration: May last 3- 6 hours

Desert Bloom Tip: It's best to avoid eating just before or after using a CBD tincture.

CBD Edibles

CBD Edibles come in prepackaged doses. They often take longer to kick in that other forms of CBD as they must be metabolized via digestion. They are also discreet and portable. Most CBD companies have added CBD to some of your favorite treats and snacks.

Edible: Cannabinoid like CBD can be added to food and drinks, which provides a lot of flexibility about how to administer. CBD is absorbed by the bloodstream, digested by the liver, and distributed throughout the body.

Waiting Period: 1-2 hours

Duration: May last 5-8 hours
